The University of Santo Tomas (UST) held the Student Awards Day on Friday, May 26, at the Quadricentennial Pavilion in recognition of its students’ outstanding achievements.
The Student Awards Day is an annual event that honors the exemplary excellence of Thomasians in their respective academic and extracurricular fields both locally and internationally.
Dr. Adrian Paolo R. Laurel, an alumnus of the UST College of Nursing Batch 1994, gave an inspiring address and embarked on his academic achievements, dedication as a student-athlete, and compassionate role as an alumnus. Laurel emphasized how student achievers must stay humble, move forward, and have tenacity.
“In being tenacious, you can see your true Thomasian identity,” remarked Laurel.
Alyssa Andrea Corpuz of 4NUR-3 received the Rector’s Academic Award. This is bestowed to students who achieved outstanding academic performance, attaining the highest general weighted average per academic unit. Corpuz obtained a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.22 and is regarded as the Rank 1 for Nursing Batch 2023.
Charles Hezekiah Importante of 3NUR-4 received the Quezon Leadership Award for Exceptional Leadership. The award is given to a deserving officer of a duly University-recognized organization for his singular ability to lead and organize activities of meaningful significance to the entire institution other than community service. Importante is the Nursing Central Board of Students (NCBS) President for A.Y. 2022-2023.
