The University of Santo Tomas College of Nursing Batch 2024 celebrated their Send-Off mass last 8th of November, 2024 at the Santisimo Rosario Parish. Heading into the November Board Examinations, Batch 2024 had rigorously prepared themselves for the examinations, through enrichment classes that started as early as January, review classes and comprehensive exams over the succeeding months. The Eucharistic Celebration, presided by the College of Nursing Regent Rev. FR. Julius Paul C. Factora, O.P., JCD, took place a day before the highly anticipated Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE) scheduled on November 9-10. In his homily, Rev. Fr. Factora reiterated the importance of the mass, emphasizing God’s guidance as an essential support for all their academic efforts in the course of the preparation. As such, the Send-Off Mass served as their final step before they face the challenging assessments testing their intuition and knowledge towards nursing practice
After the mass, the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Rowena Escolar Chua PhD, RN together with College of Nursing Regent Rev. Fr. Julius Paul C. Factora, O.P, JCD led a Pray Over. As one community, the attendees raised their hands towards the examiners, praying that they get through the examinations swiftly and with confidence. Dean Escolar-Chua and Level 4 Chairman, Asst. Prof. Dennis S. Cuadra, MAN, RN, also provided short messages of encouragement for the examiners, expressing their confidence that Batch 2024 will do well as the College of Nursing has already trained them for the past four years- inculcating in their minds and hearts what it means to be a Thomasian nurse and most of all, on how to show them what is one. Examination kits were also blessed and distributed for the examiners. To top off the celebration, an eight-minute visual presentation was also enjoyed by the examiners. Congratulatory messages by various professors of the college were delivered in the video, bidding the future registered nurses their best wishes.
The send-off mass continues to become one of the traditions of the UST College of Nursing for its Board Examination takers. At the same time, it remains to be a symbolism of the community in the UST College of Nursing where administrators, academic and non-academic staff and students alike pray in solidarity for their success. May it continue to serve its purpose, providing them spiritual guidance and comfort as they take on one of their career-defining challenges.
On behalf of the UST Nursing Journal, we wish the very best for our Board Exam Takers! Good luck to our Batch 2024!
