Incoming nursing students join in and snap the moment as the Yellow Tigers lead UST’s iconic chants.

The University of Santo Tomas - College of Nursing warmly greeted 244 freshmen during the ROARientation and Welcome Walk for the academic year (A.Y.) 2025-2026, held last Wednesday, August 6.

Part of the morning session alongside other faculties and colleges, the nursing freshies paraded the campus grounds with the theme “Spirited Steps: Batch 2029’s CONquest into the Studio of Care,” organized by the UST Nursing Central Board of Students (NCBS).

After the Thomasian Welcome Mass at the Quadricentennial Pavilion, the Freshman ROARientation took place, where various local and university-wide organizations collaborated to ensure the event’s success. The UST Yellow Jackets led the freshmen in learning the university’s signature chants while student organizations like Teatro Tomasino and Coro Tomasino energized the audience with their performances and showcased their singing, dancing, and acting.

The traditional Welcome Walk, the main highlight of the day for the Class of 2029, featured the symbolic procession through the Arch of the Centuries, marking their official entry into the Thomasian community and embodying the institution’s core values of competence, commitment, and compassion. After the events, the freshmen were escorted back to the San Martin de Porres Building, where different local organizations within the college hosted a Mini Org Fair and provided the students with the opportunity to learn about their services and activities.

Faith and tradition once again marked the beginning of a new academic year for the freshmen of the UST College of Nursing, which is also set to celebrate its 80th anniversary in February 2026.
