UST’s Medical Missions Inc. – Nursing Group held its annual skill workshop for mission essentials entitled “MMIssion Possible: Essentials Unlocked” on October 26, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Florence Nightingale Hall. The Executive Board and Committee Heads warmly welcomed the new members of the organization, supplementing them with essential knowledge and skills that the members must know during medical missions.

The speakers, Ms. Mary Grace Marcelo and Ms. Sofia Denisse Lucido, discussed the different types of missions along with the roles and contributions of each member, followed by a presentation on mission flow. Mr. Joel Rhystian Hilton then highlighted the significance of history taking during assessments and its application in outpatient department (OPD) missions.

Participants also engaged in interactive games, which helped them familiarize equipment needed for protocols. Ms. Celine Allyana Tabuzo showcased the usual set-up during missions, while Ms. Stephaney Yves Liongson demonstrated aseptic and sterile techniques. Moreover, emergency cases were also discussed by Mr. Earl Gregorio Gigantone, who taught the necessary interventions and procedures. To wrap it all up, a brief mission simulation led by the executive board members was conducted to give members a glimpse of the possible situations that they may encounter.

Vice President for Missions, Ms. Sofia Lucido, emphasized the importance of maximizing resources to provide the best services, stating, “We do as much as we can with so little we have while still providing quality health care services.”

The event ended with everyone in high spirits, new friends and memories were made, and at the same time, fundamental interventions were also ingrained in their minds and hearts. The year ahead may bring many challenges and experiences, yet if one thing remains constant, it’s the organization’s service marked with excellence and compassion.
