Monthlys After-effects: CoNquering It The Right Way

Article by Julienne Shaina Roche M. Aguilon Art by Joshua Miranda

It’s officially been 3 weeks since the monthly examinations happened, it started last September 14, Tuesday, and ended on September 17, Friday. Honestly, it’s a big understatement if I were to describe that it was such an eventful 4 days because of the myriad of coffee-drinking, 5-minute dance breaks, recorded lecture reruns, memorization at full capacity, and complete blank-staring at our laptop’s screen. We’ve all been there, done that, and of course, we all have our personalized set of practices and preparations before examinations. To add the cherry-on-top, it was conducted online because of the pandemic restrictions we’re facing. Some of the subject teachers in Level 1 required the use of Respondus Lockdown Browser, taking the modern-tech road, while others opted to conduct a traditional live proctoring through GoogleMeet or Zoom. Let me tell you that both of these are stress-laced experiences, because I bet all of us were swarmed with thoughts such as “Huwag ka po ma-disconnect” or “Bakit ang tagal mag-load”. This is the cliff-side because we would be partially dependent on our devices and internet connectivity despite our labored study sessions in order to do our very best in the exams.

Success is indeed the sweetest when you know it bloomed from diligence and being able to rest as if you hadn’t for the past few days is the greatest feeling ever. We might have different concepts of success but what’s important is that you wouldn’t have guilt thumb-tacked at your backs for delivering poorly instead you’d receive notification highlighted in green. To those who still think they’re lacking, don’t worry too much because when you’re at your lowest the only way to go is up, use it as your motivation. Don’t forget to pat your backs, student nurses, especially the greenhorns. Monthly is only the first out of three. Rather than getting scared and retreating, we ought to have confidence in ourselves and strive more in order to become competent, committed, and compassionate student nurses because we have CoNquered our own tribulations the right way.
